So when will we dump the more primitive and dangerous forms of energy, for the more resourceful and useful ones?

由Frank Drebin编辑: 6/2/2014 6:52:09 PMThis is a dumb question but will using solar energy drain energy from the sun, which will be kinda bad for us? EDIT: I asked a Jew, he said no. Thanks obama

由BrenMan 94编辑: 6/2/2014 4:47:51 PMTo everyone posting about solar roadways:
1. You can’t point the roadway to track the sun, to improve energy generation efficiency (which is only about 15% for photovoltaics, anyway, which makes PV generation expensive on a large scale). 2. Why embed solar panels in such a harsh environment where they are constantly being run over and flexed by millions of tons of vehicles? There are many more practical locations to use (such as roofs, that face southward). 3. How do you keep the solar collectors clean (as millions of tires scrub over them, and engines drip oil on them) so that sunlight can get collected by the embedded PV surfaces? 4. Who is going to actually PAY for such an obscenely expensive enterprise (other than government, which means you, the taxpayer)?
Has anyone heard about the solar highways? These could be our future if we can get the funding.

My guess is never. We need much more energy than we can collect with panels. If we get to a point where people really feel fossil fuels are untenable, I think they'll finally dedicate enough resources to get fusion going.

I only want solar energy if it's free. Nobody owns the sun, so nobody should profit from the electricity it produces. The only cost should be maintenance.

由HurtfulTurkey编辑: 6/2/2014 2:22:47 PMYeah, gas and oil are so primitive that it's they're the most viable, energy-dense fuels on the planet. We'll probably never be anywhere near a primarily solar society, though it'll be a significant contribution to the whole.
