Did Abraham Lincoln end slavery in the U.S.? I know this may be skewed by people from all over the world not really knowing U.S. history except the basics, but I'm just curious to see the results.

2 回复Yes and no, he heavily influenced the end of slavery but Lincoln himself still didn't believe in equality among whites and blacks.

Well, he signed the emancipation proclamation effectively making slavery illegal but it didn't truly end until after the civil war. Even then the black people had nowhere to go so they would just farm on white peoples' land for an extremely small amount of money And then of course racism and Jim Crow's laws didn't end until well into the 1960s

2 回复that really depends on how you define slavery. lincoln was instrumental in outlawing slavery, but forms of slavery still exist in the US today (illegal sex trade)
