You are lucky. In Ontario, everyone has to be buckled up. The driver gets a ticket for everyone who's unbuckled and doesn't have their own licence. If you're a passenger, have your own licence, and your unbuckled, you get the ticket, not the driver. You'd have gotten two tickets up here.
