Good post, you put a lot of work into that. But yeah, Capcom is hemorrhaging money and intellect, and they're digging themselves more holes to get out of as time goes on, who knows when they'll stop mucking over the fanbase.
It's the same with Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Madden NFL, FIFA, and a lot of other games. The fans need to think for once and contemplate "if I buy this game, won't that tell the people who created it that it will keep selling? So if I don't buy it, will they think and stop producing this till they get their act together?"
No one is doing that, that certainly doesn't help the issue.
There are reasons why people are still suckered into buying these games. One of them is fanboyism and holding an oath that you must have everything RE from action figures and T-shirts to games in order to be considered a "true fan". I myself have been into Halo since Combat Evolved and supported the franchise up to Reach.
I found something to enjoy about each game in the series and never said anything bad about them. In Reach for instance I didn't care about the campaign but multiplayer was still fun to play, I loved forging maps, and custom games were awesome. It wasn't Halo 3 or even like Halo 3 because simply it wasn't Halo 3; that didn't make it a bad game in my eyes. When I look around, however, I see a bunch of people whining that Reach doesn't have the BR or that Reach has armor abilities. This said, I can understand where these fanboys are coming from. They've been with these franchises since the beginning and they still enjoy them today. Now because of what happened to RE, I can also understand where the haters are coming from, giving me a neutral and informed outlook.
Another reason these games still sell is because you got the people who see all the ads and think "I'll try this game out". Whether they like the game or not is irrelevant because the company still gets the money.
