Because MS wanted to cram in all the DLC before the next generation launches, people no longer have much of a reason to stick it out for the game. Besides, y'know, actually playing it and enjoying it. Weren't there Halo 2 map packs launching well into... holy crap, 2007?! Wow. That is late, I had no idea.
inb4its because the game sucks

inb4inb4opcantinb4 maybe.
I should point out that H4 was my personal GotY 2012, but it didn't have much competition. Trials Evolution was the other frontrunner.

1 回复I love H4's story, even if they changed/twisted some of the already established canon to tell it. The multiplayer was shite though.

2 回复All I know is that Microsoft needs to release Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 on Steam with full Workshop support, all DLCs included for around $40-$60. That would be wonderful!

For how long after a game comes out that I will regularly play usually depends on a number of factors like playability and how fun multiplayer is. However, when DLC is involved, the amount of time from the release of the game until the last pack of DLC comes out, divided by .75, is usually how long it will take to play through all the DLC before becoming bored. In the case of Halo 4, that distance isn't even one year, so I think all but the most dedicated Halo 4 players will be gone by January of 2014 :(

2 回复Halo is old now. It is starting to suffer just like other aging franchises (Ex. Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed). 343i had to try to innovate to keep the game fresh, but they also had to keep it Halo. Blah blah blah... After 6 fps games, Halo is stale. People who have played since CE or 2 are just burnt out on it. The reason Halo 4 is downgraded on this forum and the others are praised can be summed up in one word: NOSTALGIA
COD's population stays high because of customer appeal to teens and its more accessible and easier for casual players.
The DLC has nothing to do with why the game's population has dropped. It has to do with the fact that the game's multiplayer is shitty. Compared to Halo 3 which maintained a solid population for it's entire life, halo 4 is dropping off in pop. because it sucks ass. End of story, I don't give a shit what you say, but I jumped ship in the first month because it was boring.

29 回复look, the game effing sucks. There is no hidden reason people didn't like it. It was shit. They added perks, instant respawn, and unbalanced loadouts into a halo game. Pure ass.

1 回复I'd just like to say that, for the record, I probably bought that 2007 map pack and I'm certain it was absolutely worth it. Also, this raises a startling concern that I've thought about before. If I want to do a Halo 2 LAN with the map packs, how am I going to transfer them from my Xbox 360 to another one?
