Space X gets 90% of their funding from subsidies supplied through NASA. If NASA goes, so does Space X. And NASA does a lot more work than just rocketry. Space X has some really ground breaking work in rocketry, however they do not have a department doing much science that isn't related to achieving a more efficient rocket.

The CIA does not have the capability of exploring space and doing the atmospheric sciences and experiments that NASA does. NASA returns 17 dollars for every dollar invested in the agency, it is this magic money machine that turns capital into tangible resources, like new technologies and scientific processes that we can use to the benefit of the entirety of humanity. NASA is not some money pit, it is a very wise investment and even if it only returned the capital at a 1:1 ratio, it would be worth it as it advances medicine, material science and physics. To short-change NASA is to delay our longing to explore the stars.

The most recent data I could find was for an economic report in 2005 on NASA's impact. NASA has a positive economic effect on every single state. So it isn't even an expense, so why the -blam!- would you cut it if it helps your economy and it is also incredibly important. I'm sick of these pseudo intellectual idiots nit picking NASA when there is so much useless waste in the world. I'd get you more up to date data if their website wasn't shut down because of -blam!-ing furloughs.

What the hell does the CIA have to do with anything? NASA has nothing to do with the CIA. Anyone who thinks NASA is unimportant is automatically a massive fucking idiot whose opinions are completely invalid, that is a fact.
