You anti-theists claim that your interpretation is correct, so why can't religious folk do the same thing?

We have a problem with the theistic application of it and the direct words of the books which people could quite easily take as ethical absolutes. You can't just say "Oh, you shouldn't bash the Bible because the truth is lost... But since you can apply your own meaning, we can too!" If you don't know what it means, stop using it as a goddamn guideline.

Bottom line is, anti-theists are just as bad as intolerant Christians.
