Well I did some research, looks like there will be no offline Multiplayer mode for the Wii-U but there will be online Multiplayer. You can also use the Wii-U's gamepad microphone for in game chat.

I regret my buy. I have a friend who also plays casually and I wish I could bring the game to his house so that we could tackle co-op together. We did it for every other splinter cell. You gotta keep in mind that not everyone is a "serious" gamer and that those without much time or interest may not even have a gold membership(like myself).
