I don't think it looks terrible. The reason it looks like that, however, is because the man who designed the Aston Martin Vanquish is now the designer for Ford.

I've never really had a problem with American cars exteriors. I am glad that they are upgrading the interiors. Those always suffered horrendously IMO. Darnit.. this was supposed to be a comment..
