Am I the only one who has a boatload of problems dealing with Handymen? This is only the second one I've faced in the game (I'm on the part right after the Vox Populi betray me and I get Undertow) and between it and the supporting Vox Populi that seem to infinitely spawn, I just can't get a break.
The game and its "helpful" hints keep telling me to shoot it in the heart for massive damage, but that doesn't help when I have about 3 seconds to lower its health bar by a sixteenth before it's mauling me up close. Its mobillity and its power up close just really doesn't give a lot of room for counterplay. I've tried using the Skylines to escape to the other side of the map (very quickly of course, I know that he can electrify that shit) to perhaps regroup and prepare to whittle him down some more, but that doesn't help when he jumps across half the map in half a second right on your head, there's literally no time to snipe if you try to keep your distance and position yourself properly.
What am I missing? There's got to be something. It's a thematically cool enemy, but otherwise it just seems very poorly designed as a miniboss character.

由tntbabin编辑: 8/1/2013 6:40:14 PMGet up close, hit him with crows, spam as many rounds as you can with your best weapon onto his heart before the crows run out(I usually use a carbine with recoil reduction and damage boost), then quickly hit him with crows again. You gotta be quick though, cause crows don't really last all that long on him(just long enough to get in a few easy shots to his heart). This tactic is what always works for me on both hard and 1999 mode.

1 回复You are being punished by the developer for not pre-ordering the game and getting the gear that lets you do 50% more damage to Handymen. Pre-order bonuses are so damn stupid....

jump on skyline jump far away shoot at it as much as you can jump on skyline jump far away shoot at it as much as you can rinse repeat. Thats how i did it during my hardcore playthrough, barely died at all. Now the siren on the other hand, that bitch is so bloody hard to take down without dying.

Spam murder of crows and go to town with the shotgun on his heart during the stun duration, then zip to the other side of the (factory I'm assuming) or the Dollar Bill to purchase Salts, rinse and repeat. There's a RPG on the raised platform that makes the fight a breeze if you combine it with the right vigors.

4 回复It's annoying, I share that dislike. They are very overpowered compared to other enemies. The other time you face them they are even harder so don't look forward to that. There is another enemy that's even worse in some ways since they too are over powered in many ways. Minor spoiler, but vague enough that it won't actually spoil anything:
There is a ghost enemy that you fight twice and it takes a lot of damage, especially the second time.
It just too long for both enemies and isn't fun after a little while. Otherwise the game was mostly fine.

由Milk编辑: 7/31/2013 7:29:07 AMHuh? They aren't that bad, until 1999 mode. Just constantly move and don't look back. You'll get use to their pattern of attack and know when to attack them your self. You could always look up videos on how to glitch them so they don't move at all.

2 回复由Hipi07编辑: 7/31/2013 6:21:00 AMLol and I assume you're playing on Normal. Can't wait until you reach The Siren. That's all I'm saying. You think they are bastards now, wait until you play Hard or 1999 mode. On 1999 mode they've killed me in three hits, which is literally a couple of seconds. Not to talk about how damn resilient they are, literally having run out of ammo at some times. Tips? Stay on the move. Although it says 'Aim for the heart', don't do it unless you're safe to do it. Just try and kill him and stay alive, that should be your priority. When he closes in, use the skylines to escape him to another section and then fire at him from there. Or, lead him into enemies so they'll fight each other. If you're cornered without escape, use Shock Jockey traps to stun him and gtfo before he -blam!-s you. They aren't poorly designed/programmed. They do exactly what they have to do, and they do it incredibly lethally. They fit their role perfectly. Great tip is to ride the skylines back and forth in one area near the Handyman so he'll mount it and electrify it. When he does this, get off and aim with the sniper at his heart as he is hanging. You should be able to get two or three shots on his heart which do considerable damage. It's how I got the achievement for only doing heart damage. And with the Fox, use Undertow to push them off the edge, killing them easily. If they are not so close to the edge, use the one that lifts them in the air, and then combine with undertow to send them flying far off the edge.

Well I heard that undertow might be effective to keep it back. Didn't really think to use it though so I ended up just running and making allies to do the dirty work while possible then rigging the chase route with devil's kiss traps.

The Handymen are a pain. I normally just try to hide myself somewhere it is to big to reach. Other wise I just circle it while getting crits. This is not foolproof though, I've died many a time by a Handyman. When you finish the game I would like to see what you think about the ending.

Is that the area in which Daisy Fitzroy talks to you from behind the window of the room in the middle? The skylines incline on either end up towards a platform? I had a really hard time with that Handyman on my first time through. Took me forever to kill it. Didn't help that they can electrify the skylines. I just ended up taking potshots on the Handyman off the skyline for a long time.
