If you do this, you'll have about 10 seconds of consciousness in which to save yourself, after which you pass out. Death will follow in a few minutes unless somebody rescues you. People have been exposed to vacuum for over a minute and survived with no lasting injuries. Divers don't get it so easy. In 1983, five people were killed by rapid decompression of a diving bell. The diver closest to the breach had his spine, limbs and internal organs blown out, all of which were subsequently ejected from the bell by the pressure, reaching over thirty feet in height.

Farmers were free for some time in between harvests. So they worked on the pyramids and received benefits for their labor. Romans built the first factory thousands of years before the industrial revolution. Easter island was once covered in trees. The local residents rectified that so they could become cannibals. A telegram was sent, and intercepted, that read "it would be a fine day to attack Pearl Harbor." It was dismissed as nothing. The sender? A Japanese man working on the island. The year? 1942. Japan had a nuclear weapons program during WWII, which produced a working nuclear device. However, American firebombing destroyed the main facilities, stalling the project. (Actually, the US may have nuked the city the uranium enrichment site was in.)

Instead, the phrase was "The Regulars are here!" and in fact, Revere was only 1 of 3 men that made the ride. Revere never made the whole trip (though I guess that's less surprising to those who played ACIII. Jerks.) There was one form of ritual found among some Native Americans that before war the wives of warriors would have sex with the elders of their community, then have sex with the husband, to transfer the elders' spirit and power into battle. That's respecting your elders at its finest, I suppose (Recon, don't get any ideas). Wovoka, the great leader of Native American Ghost Dance movement, who was considered by those who followed him to be either the Messiah or messenger of the Messiah, ended up as an extra in Western movies after the movement died due to the Wounded Knee Massacre.
