Noticing a trend...ugh
Just an observation. It seems the longer we go without some new solid info about Destiny, the more ridiculous the forum question/topics become. From pets, to mayor candidacy, to silly spam questions and other nonsensical topics. Don't get me wrong(I assume some will), I'm all about having fun too, but let's not cheapen this place to the point that it is no longer a place to find real info, get real questions answered, and discuss relevant topics that apply to the game. I hope Bungie drops some "loot" soon or these forums will be full of nothing worth reading.

People seem to be putting more effort into complaining about each other than taking action that improves their forum browsing experience. That is strange. You have the power. You need only to wield it. Think of Bungie.net as a destination in the game we're creating for you to play. There is a world to explore here. You can separate the loot from the villains. There is no one thing that you will ever be able to say to bring the entire conversation into alignment with what you'll want to hear. You will need to take action. You'll never play Destiny with everyone who plays it. Many of you will want different things from this experience. In the same way, Bungie.net is a great place to find like-minded individuals and follow them - or shield yourself from the people who distract you from what's important. As for impatience... Destiny comes out in 2014. That's next year. We'll do our best to bring you along on this exploration, but we don't want to deliver a game devoid of surprises. You may think that you want to know everything about Destiny, but you don't. If we did that, you'd come right back here and say "I already knew everything about this game before I played it!" We're glad you're hungry for the meal, but we reserve the right to bake it for as long as it will take to be fully delicious. And, we reserve the right to keep the kitchen off-limits from time to time. There are sharp objects and open flames in here.

Imagine if your family and friends only talked about news and things that mattered. Seems a little boring to me. Just look at Bungie. They once had frog mounts and tiger man in Destiny. Part of video games is being creative and having fun! So a company that makes those kind of games will attract those kinds of people. The mount and pet posts were fun. Sure some of the comments were unintelligent and crude but you will always have those. The mayor one was very well thought out and creative. I don't think posts like that cheapen the game but enhance the community. If you really think the Destiny forum has gotten bad go to the Flood! XD I am not trying to call you out or be a jerk, which the jerk store is all out of. Rather just some food for thought. Believe you e good sir, when there is news the whole community will be talking about it.

Edit: And honestly the less you know about something the more your imagination is able to run wild. We learn this and this thing about the game and then the span of your imagination shrinks to fit the things about the game you just learned. It may be a recipe for letdown, but it's good for the entire industry if forums around the net are filled with ideas about what could be and how to make things better and more engaging and meaningful rather than... well... everything else. I still dream of the ability to actually fly through space and around a real spherical planet. Whether that makes it into this game or not, it opens up all kinds of possibilities that I can't even fathom. Those ideas find their way around the web and into the minds of the people who have the ability to make such an experience a reality. THAT is why forums are great. We need to become adventurous again, but we're stuck in a box built by the games of yesteryear that we've known and loved.

Well, i suppose that is what groups are for. Find a group that shares your interest. There is Art and Stuff (their name should explain them), The Black Garden (they focus on writing), there is also Guardians of Legend (more geared towards just general community. Regardless, SDCC is coming and i am sure we will have some new things to talk about then.
