At least it wasn't like in Mass Effect 3 where everyone knew who Kai Leng was except for me.
He came in killed Thane, everybody is talking about what a badass he is, meanwhile I'm wondering where the hell he's been for two games.
At least with Halo 4, they have another two games to flesh out the Didact some more. ME3 introduces a major antagonist in the last game only for him to die two hours later.

This. Because I can actually understand things like I would hope most intelligent people can, I can at least infer certain parts of the Halo 4 plot without being confused. Mass Effect 3 is like OHAI this Kai Leng. You know him! And even if you did read the books, the books were more well known to exist since Halo CE. (my High School library had them I think). I didn't even know that Mass Effect had comic books. Hell I didn't know I needed to read them to figure out about a MAJOR character/boss.
