I don't own one, but my coworker/friend used to have a Golf GTi. He said it was incredibly reliable, well built, fast, and one of the best cars he's ever owned. The only reason he got rid of it is because he hurt his back in an unrelated incident and he couldn't handle the sport suspension anymore. I know it's not much, but I hope that helped a bit.
