70%+ of used game credit goes towards new games. Nice try, also used games cost 0$ to manufacture and distribute to the publishers. They are not losing money from a used game sale, because that assumes every used game sale is a new sale lost, which is very far from reality. Used games greatly benefit publishers, but they continue to believe the fantasy that if they stop used game sales unhealthy consumers will put up the extra cash to line the publishers pockets. Also very ironic that the guy in the video is playing a F2P game when talking about how expensive it is for publishers and developers to maintain server costs without new sales.

  • Prove that 70% goes back into new games. You can't, exactly. And yes they do lose money. Because every game that is sold at a discount should be sold at new game price. When they are sold at a used game price that lose that money that they should have made from new game price. Did you just decide to completely ignore my math?

  • No, but you seemed to ignore my grammar. The credit inside gamestops ecosystem will always ether go back into more used games or funnel into new game purchases. Sure there is a delay in the credit going back to the publisher, but it happens anyway. A used game sale does not equal a new game sale loss. Your math is wrong on too many levels to count. You are not taking the actual profits of new vs used games into account on behalf of publishers and you are making stats up (average used game price).

  • A used game sale does count as a none new game sale. If I walk into GameStop and buy Halo 4. Even though I have NEVER owned it before and I buy a used copy 343 studios get NO money at all. So they lose profit. You can't deny that. So their for they lose money, and a sale. And my math isn't wrong. I showed the sales for used games from GameStop, and found out how many games were sold (with the average of 40). Sure that average of 40 was made up but it is a fair estimate. What would you say the average of a used game is? After I found the games sold, I multiplied by the 40. Getting the profit to GameStop from used games sold. I took the same number of use game sold and multiplied by the new game cost and found out the money they would have made with a new game sale. Then you subtract and get the difference and that is the money that publishers and developers are losing money. They are no more variables. You can't deny the math.

  • Grammar and spellings are two big variables you missed there. If I sell my used game to someone else for 1$ is the developer/publisher LOSING any money? No they are not gaining money, nothing is happening to them at all. All movie ticket sales are lost game sales, all candy bar purchases are lost game sales, all car purchases are lost game sales. Used games are different in that the money generated from the second hand market mostly goes back to the publishers through the purchase of new games from store credit.

  • If you sell your used game to someone else, they don't get store credit. So they have to buy from the store to get credit. Like my scenario, if I go buy a used game and Iv never bought that game before, the publisher receives no money from that purchase because it is a used game. Therefore they do not relieve the money they should receive. For every game they sell that they created, publishers and developers should receive money and they do not receive any from used game sales. You can't deny that, that is a fact, and unfair to publishers and developers. That is why used games are bad.

  • They already got a sale of that game, they guy who traded it in bought it new. I still do not understand how it is so unfair to these multibillion dollar corporations that they only get 70% of the credit of the used game market. A publisher does not deserve the money from a used game sale for the same reason they do not deserve the money from a movie ticket. They already received a new sale off of that game and are only benefiting from the extra income generated from the used game market. One day you will realize that shockingly, multi billion dollar corporations are not the victims in this scenario. keep calm, and keep you blinders on.

  • How is it not fair, you aren't paying them for what they created. You have to remember, when you buy a game you aren't buying the rights to the game. You are buying the right to PLAY the game. If you buy a used game the publisher/developer receives NO MONEY. So you aren't buying the rights to even play the game since they receive no money. You just sound like someone that is against big corporate companies saying they shouldn't receive money from what they created. That is completely bogus. And the movie ticket is completely different. Once you buy a movie ticket you can't use it again, that is not the case for a game.
