The information the government got from Verizon was barely more than what is available publicly in your local White Pages. I'd be willing to bet a lot of people freaking out about the leak would actually agree with the program if they actually knew what it did.

1 回复I am happy with this. Government is doing some -blam!-ed up stuff, and this guy said "No, I need to tell the public about what is happening" Shame some American news outlets are passing him off as a traitor, for whatever reason.

1 回复Aside from the data collection the things that bug me: A contractor was given this level of access. He fled to Hong Kong (China) which is essentially an adversarial country.

The American people deserve to know what the hell is going on, but yet the media will spin this in a way to turn them against him. It's a sad state of affairs when they can convince the population that ignorance is bliss.

This gives me mixed feelings.. On one side it makes me sad and angry to see how rotten US is but on the other hand individuals like him give me hope. Hope that will most likely be "made to disappear" in the following weeks..

it's not like the government can send death squads to any American contracted with Verizon - the size of the data is extraordinarily large, certainly not conducive to a refined search. I'm wondering why the American government even bothered with this scheme.

1 回复First off, I really don't see any wrong with what the government is doing. Second, I'm glad he leaked it, and if the government is defending their program, they shouldn't mind either. The fact of the matter is that this stuff shouldn't be classified.
