Piano and drums mainly, both self-taught. I also played sax for 9 years, but I haven't picked that up in a while.
I used to be in a death metal band in high school, but we broke up about 4 years ago when we all started college.
Currently I compose for myself, I took a few music theory classes and some jazz history classes.

Chris Adler, John Bonham, Mike Portnoy, Blake Richardson, Charlie Benante, Dave Lambardo. That's just a few that come to mind. I hope that doesn't come off as saying that it's hard and you should accept that, as that is not the case for most modern drummers... Sadly.

Dave Lombardo is talented, but not exactly creative... He's on par with Paul Mazurkiewicz, imo. Chris Adler used to be my idol. I don't listen to too much LoG nowadays, but I looked up to him when I first started out. My proudest moment was when I successfully pulled off the Ruin fill. Hannes, Mike Mangini, Martin Lopez, Art Blakey, Vitek, and Sam Gutterman are some of my favorites at the moment.

Although he's not creative, he almost always played at eighth-notes for his tempo. He was also replaced as the full-time drummer in Slayer, by Paul B-something or other. Chris Adler, Mike Portnoy/Mangini, and Blake Richardson have massive amounts of skill and talent. Three of the largest prog. metal drummers and a headliner for groove metal. I also like Drummer, literally, the drummer of Within the Ruins. Tech death with a fresh twist. He has lots of skill.
