What? Halo 4 had, like, five weapons.
Anyway, I'd much prefer well balanced weapons to lots of them.

Neither. It had a few 'new' weapons which for the most part were taken from weapons people had created in the modding community. You can still find a video of a Halo 2 BR that was modified into an 'assault rifle', which looks and acts almost exactly like the SAW. Boltshot? We did that with plasma pistol and shotgun burst in Halo 2 as well. Light Rifle? Bungie did that first, with the Halo 2 prototype BR (single precision shot while zoomed, burst fire less damage less accuracy etc. while unzoomed).
