We should cut funding for public education because we spend more money per student than nearly every other nation, but we're ranked very low on the world test scores in math, science, etc.
So unless you think Americans are innately more stupid than other countries, there is no reason why we should have to spend more money to be worse than everyone else.

Out in California, we have Propositions, basically bills that go to a public vote for implementation rather than leaving it up to legislators.
