If the post is deemed and reported as "offensive" by sufficient members and the reviewing moderator agrees to the charge of "offensive content", then yes, someone could get banned for essentially "offending too many people".
But most folks aren't so thin-skinned as to let someone's foul mouth get their panties twisted.
But most folks aren't so thin-skinned as to let someone's foul mouth get their panties twisted.
Why are the complainers important enough for you to make assumptions about them, rather than addressing their complaint (and only their complaint)? Why would your perception of the thickness of someone's skin ever matter?

If and when a complaint is lodged, I evaluate it. If sufficient members have reported someone for their offensive language or statements, I am tasked with evaluating that complaint and deciding as to the validity of it. Here's an example. The evening of the Boston bombing, some posters thought it "lulzy" to post things along the lines of "I was running in the race, heard the bomb and it was only due to my fast reflexes that I held up an 8 year old in front of me to shield me from the blast. A shame he died." Now, I got about 4-6 of those in my queue. Each marked as "offensive content". My judgement was that it was "offensive content" and my agreement resulted in that poster being banned. Now, if I saw something in the queue where someone had been reported for an occasional f-bomb or other commonplace obscenity and it was flagged "offensive content"? I would not agree with that charge, the poster would not be banned, and my "assumption" would be that some folks were a little too thin-skinned. If you have an issue with my ability to make such a call in such a situation? Please feel free to PM any of the web-team and tell them that you don't appreciate, accept or like how the current reporting and banning system works (or that you disapprove of my ability or how I choose to review those reports).

I don't have any issue with your ability (I trust it just fine, actually), I have an issue with assuming that people are too "thin skinned" because they have different sensibilities than you. Judge the complaint, not the complainer is what I'm saying.
