Not really, you can own one at any age. You must be 18 to buy one, but you can get one as a gift. Honest, every suburban and rural family should have at least one .22. As far as I am concerned, no survival bag, or bug out bag is complete without at least one .22. You never know when you have to rely on hunting to survive. Rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc... You can even kill a deer with a .22 if you know shot placement. It's not legal to do so while actually hunting, but in survival, it doesn't matter.

It would depend on the state, though it really should be used only in a survival situation. It's not illegal to own a rifle, at sixteen, nor is it illegal to poses a rifle at sixteen under supervision. If you are going out into the wild at your age, I would hope you are either doing it because you are in a survival situation, or are under supervision anyway.

If it's just camping, don't worry about it as much. Just don't let the skunk ape get you. Random stops do happen, and from what I understand a lot of Florida is park land, right? Park wardens patrol, even out to remote campgrounds. Though not sure the legality of going onto parkland in Florida with a firearm.
