If you are referencing the signatures that are automatically added to the bottom of users posts, then I disagree, as they are a terrible idea. They are tacky, cause discontinuity in threads, and always degrade to a system for users to grab as much attention as they can. Find me a site where signatures have not fallen to inane ascii art and flamboyant personal advertisements and I might reconsider.
