So has anyone heard of Ikea's meatballs, how they have horse meat in them, instead of regular meat? I have, and the media is flipping shit about it. I don't know anything about meat, but what is so bad about horse meat? Is it the fact that we don't usually eat horses, and therefore it's disgusting?
Or it there an actual legitimate reason for people being reluctant to eat horse meat?

1 回复We are culturally opposed to horsemeat because historically it has been more profitable to use the horses rather than eat them. There is nothing inherently wrong with it - many European countries eat horse (I have personally eaten horse whilst in Germany). There is the concern that horses are quite expensive, if someone is using horse meat it is probably dodgy stuff that isn't fit for human consumption.

3 回复Did they ever advertise them as 100% beef? IMO, it's better than other, cheaper alternatives to add mass to the product. I don't consider it dishonest unless they specifically said the meat is just beef.

2 回复The big issue is that the food supply should be transparent and honest as to what is in food. There isn't anything "wrong" with horsemeat, it isn't dangerous, it isn't unhealthy, there is a bit of a cultural or social "ickiness" to it for some people, but it isn't harmful. But it is not beef. The problem is that food should be what the seller/producer says that it is.
