The only reason I see this being an issue is that you'd have groups of friends that would create group titles against the CoC, for the sole purpose of having it as their title. In that case, it's easy to argue, "just mute them, they're probably not worth your time anyways!". Sure, but if I was a betting man, I'd say that the webteam has already cooked up a trust system algorithm that has been working for over a year. They did this with the past system, tracking our progress in 2006 and implementing titles in 2007, wouldn't be surprised if the same thing was going on all of 2012 in bungie.old. As for your idea, I like it. It's different and it promotes a sense of different aspects of the community. Just brainstorming here - what if the group you select is just displayed right underneath your avatar? That way, you can still have the automated system with new prefixes/titles, but you'd still be able to publicly represent a group of your choosing. If you didn't want to represent a group or didn't find your home yet, you can always not wear the hat for it. I'm curious to see what the webteam has been playing around with.
