London is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite cities in the world and a large part of it has to do with just how multicultural it is. I have no doubt that race and racism are issues in the UK just like it is everywhere in the world (and your story confirms it), but in the United States it's front-and-center AT ALL TIMES, every day, in the news, in the media, everywhere, and it can really grate on you after awhile.
Whenever I have spent time in London, race and racism issues seem to come up a lot more rarely. People can just be people and focus on things that matter. It's a better way to live.
