1. Doesn't the Qur'an have open-ended commands to kill Christians and the like? 2. Jesus told us we are to love others as ourselves, love and forgive our enemies, help people, etc. 3. Any Christian who thinks they can commit an act of terrorism based on what the Bible said should read it again; there is no command in the New Testament that justifies killing others.

  • A muslim terrorist == KKK I don't think people realize this. They were both used religion to back up their claims, and their claims were politically charged.

  • 1. It has both, actually. It has more passages about loving their Abrahamic brothers than about killing them though (eh..pretty sure). 2. The Qur'an has more information on Jesus than the Bible. They spend more time over him and his teaching than they do any other prophet, including Mohammad. 3. There is an argument by some that a closer translation from Koine (the original language the Bible was written in) to English for that particular commandment is thou shall not murder, not thou shall not kill. Then again, you said New Testament. Not sure how to argue that for Christians without including all parts of the Bible. Anywho, just providing some thoughts to ponder upon before I hide again yet another religious and political thread. I know this won't end well..

    1. You probably got that from the Old Testament, did you? Because that applied to the Israelites, thousands of years ago. 2. Didn't Mohammed live during the 600s? He wasn't alive to meet Jesus, like the writers of many New Testament books. Therefore I doubt he would've known more about Jesus than the Apostles that personally knew Him. 3. I do agree translation could be confusing sometimes, but not always.

  • 1. My first comment derived from the Qur'an. The Abrahamic tradition applies to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. 2. I never said Mohammad met Jesus. That had absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

  • 2. Sorry about that, I was in a hurry. I mean that the Qur'an couldn't possibly have more information on Jesus than the Bible because Mohammed didn't live when Jesus was on Earth, and therefore couldn't get to know him better than His Apostles.

That's not really the point, though. I'm not arguing accuracy of one book/religion over the other. The point was that the Qur'an places a strong emphasis on Jesus and his teachings. Muslims don't believe he was the son of God, but still believe he was a prophet with extremely worthy ideals. Thus, they also place value Jesus' teachings.
