Here in the UK, I didn't learn diddly squat about Vietnam or the American civil war. We learned about British history like the Tudors, the Norman invasion ect.

I figured it'd be something like that. Since in the US there is no emphasis at all of what you mentioned, which is vital history to the UK but not so much the US and vice versa. American Civil War and Us/Vietnam is vital history to the US but not so much the UK.
