You're describing the base of the game since the beginning of D1.
What exactly did you enjoy doing before the expansion? I'm personally enjoying taking my time with clearing fabled/mythic Kepler, solving puzzles with minimal spoilers, and messing around with the new armor stats.
After those are completed, then Destiny goes back to where it usually lives, where i hop on once or twice a week, raid with my group every other weekend, and take the time to enjoy it alongside other games.
If you're looking to a single game to fill the entirety of your free time, you're asking for burnout.
You're describing the base of the game since the beginning of D1.
This update is a great window into human psychology. It's objectively the same exact experience we've had for the last 10 years, but the appearance of the portal instead of the director doesn't mask it anymore, & it's upsetting to people that weren't aware of the situation.

I would argue that it's actually better now than it was. Before, you had to queue up for a strike playlist, and pray you got the one you needed for whatever quest/bounty you needed. Now you can just select it. Before, everything was matchmade. Now, you can go in solo or 2-man. Before, you were stuck with whatever dumb spider mine modifier was on that week. Now, you can choose what you want for the most part. Sure, i miss the director. But I'm also aware of what we've been given.

由yodas_buddy编辑: 7/24/2025 8:33:52 PMThis is disingenuous imo… Progress didn’t use to turn into a pumpkin every 6 months, without being able to grind the best weapons until the end, and when you get there progress is reset and the stuff you earnt turns into a pumpkin as having to use the latest gear or disadvantage, it’s nonsense. Exotic weapons didn’t have 12 hour repetitive catalysts until previous few seasons too.. the game is going the wrong way.

That is part of the problem. The game has not ALWAYS been about the pointless grind to be I-Level capped in every activity. There were new activities in seasons, new things to go learn and do, story missions used to be 12+ weeks, and did not always involve 49 travel here and talk to so and so steps. You could actually over level some content. Here and now there is exactly 2 new things, raid and campaign. Exactly how many times do you plan on running them between now and December?

Story mission used to last that long, believe me I played them and thought I would rather have access to all of it at once. Which they did eventually. But in so doing Bungie made most of it about flying around talking to NPCs rather then actually doing stuff the way it used to be. Maybe you don't remember, or you always started late, or you just never paid attention to how many weeks it took to play all the stuff. I did however and can say with certainty that story mission used to be WAY longer then they are now.

Did I say Campaign OR did I say story missions? Maybe at one point I used campaign in some post, somewhere, but here I know I said story missions. Story missions used to last a lot longer than a week. Missions to run weekly that moved the story arc along in a reasonable way to line up the next season, to encourage players to come back every week for a bit. What the heck, none of that is needed here, you need to grind pointlessly to 500 so your I-Level can be reset in 6 months. Everything you do is power caped, and drops are even worse than before. The only 2 new things to do are the campaign and the raid. I know your not grinding them endlessly. Everything else is old and recycled. Exactly why are you defending this dumpster fire?
