Unfortunately I believe it was simply because of scheduling conflicts. But I doubt he'll reprise his role at least in Andor as it's only going to be the two seasons.

I just don’t want this to be a permanent recast. If it is, I’ll be pissed. They should have brought in an actress who looks like a young Carrie Fisher and introduced Leia and teased her role, THAT would have been interesting to see.
