Cannot link platform accounts
Hello,
I'm trying to link 2 platform accounts. I have 1 old account that's existed since 2010 (I think when Reach released?) - thewafflesface, which I think started out as a standalone BNET account? I access this account by logging in via my microsoft account, which shows as linked from my account linking settings, but not from my profile via.

My other account I access by logging in via steam - Thecowshirt (same tag as my Microsoft account)

When attempting to link the accounts (initiated from either account) I receive the same error: "ErrorMoreThanOneCredentialOnOriginalUser"

I understand that you cannot link a Steam account to more than one other account, but as you can see My steam account is not linked to another platform, and neither is my xbox account. Is this a heritage of having an original BNET account?

The problem here is that both your XBox and Steam have their own Bungie Accounts that they are already attached to. The situation people are more likely to run into, is say someone has a Steam and an XBox pairing; if they wanted to unlink Steam from it, they can no longer do this. But in your case by trying to link Steam to XBox, you're trying to unlink Steam from its existing Bungie Account, and that's another one of the things the 25th of March change prevents. It is not anything to do with being a migrated battle.net account, the error message "Platform accounts cannot be linked to multiple Bungie profiles" is saying that Steam account is already connected to a Bungie Account which it can no longer be unlinked from, and so can't be linked to another.
