I DON'T do Recoveries... Do NOT accept recoveries, a sad day, a cautionary tale.
About 4 years ago I met a friend as part of the Ghost network's initiative to explore different social media networks within the Destiny community.
He was an admin of one of the largest Destiny clubs.
Used to be a "tryhard" but he had a stroke... which required a hole in his throat, and he now suffers from cognitive and physical issues.
I've helped him from time to time, and I try to make time to grind more casual stuff with him.
He's my friend. Full stop. I don't see him as a charity case or burden, I've never asked for nor would accept any compensation for my help. Not from him or anyone.
I warned him frequently about using a recovery. He assured me that he would only use family members OR people he completely trusted.
I got a message this morning, turns out... that trust was misplaced.
He lost everything. Everything was wiped.
I think I know who it is. They were his friend for eight years!
They've been on the mic with him, they know about his disability and issues.
What can I do? Nothing without risking my account.
So, this is a cautionary tale... DON'T give your account information to ANYONE EVER!

8 回复Why is the thread titled like you’re denying an accusation? What does your friend having a recov gone bad have to do with YOU doing or not doing recovs?

At least, he has you in his corner! ✅ There’s no shortage of online pirates / piracy to deal with…and gaming / Destiny is no exception. Sorry for your loss. From Your Friendly Neighborhood Guardian Edit: Also file a report with bungie and report person who deleted his stuff with video or photo evidence. Hope a resolution or justice can be made.

1 回复Should have just settled for carrying. Bungie doesn’t care about that. Giving your whole account over is some serious danger. Wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to ransom the account before deleting. You’re setting yourself up for criminal exploitation. Just the world we live in.

3 回复It's a shame that there are people that need someone else to get on there account to do things for them, but dishonest and low players would take advantage of that I get on my wife's account sometimes , to get her raid loot and objectives, and higher end pvp loot , but she obviosly can trust me, we live in the same house but She wouldn't give her info out to anyone else, not even a freind

6 回复Stories like this are really sad. It’s hard though, because it’s easy to see why that rule is in place. If you look at your opponents stats in PvP you see it from time to time. A consistent 0.75 KD playing at a 3.5 KD just this one week for some reason. It’s either a recov or they bought some cheats (or the recov is using cheats. Which def happens).

I am extremely sorry that happened and appalled that someone in our community would be so shallow and underhanded to do that to anyone, let alone someone they have played with for years and was cognizant of their strife. Hopefully some variation of closure and justice will be obtainable.
