the extra aim assist on elsies doesn't feel more than messenger really. if anything it counters that messenger is far more accurate of a weapon. if anything. though i personally have gotten way more bs aim assist kills with the messenger than i think i ever will with elsies. they really feel the same to me. one gun is just much easier farmed than the other. if you could just spam a pve event to get a lightweight 140 as good as the rose you'd see a lot more of that weapon used than the rose. follows the same logic. has nothing to do with the gun being better itself it's just easier obtainable which I'm glad bungie did so that there can actually be more 340 enjoyers rather than the rare player with a messenger. also with elsies you need 83 recoil or it's inconsistent 3 burst trash. when people do use it against me in trials i check their recoil direction to see if they are actually going to hit their shots or not because most do not have 83 recoil direction and miss their shots which is hilarious i might add.

To be fair you're kind of right about that perk combo being op, it's like having mnk stability on console, and it's only gotten better now that adept counterbalance doesn't take away stats anymore.
