Not sure I agree with the changes… but I haven’t played my Hunter much outside of the campaign in the Final Shape.
My short opinion about Prismatic Hunter being broken stems from how it’s aspects and supers don’t really follow the “letting lesser used aspects and playstyles” from the dedicated subclasses shine. Every single one of the aspects was the top tier choice or specifically synergizes with the rest.
Thanks for replying :)
It means a lot to get some feedback.
Ok so I will try and explain my views on the aspects and then Supers.
First I don't really see which of the aspects would be considered top tier aside from maybe Stylish.
Most tier lists I've seen when it comes to all aspects most of the Hunter aspects that is currently on prismatic was considered to be on the lower end.
What makes some of them good on prismatic is because of certain interactions such as Stylish + Winter's allowing combination blow to make you invisible since you defeated a slowed target + the 10% damage buff from Facet of Courage.
But if we look at the rest of the aspects such as Gunpowder Gamble it's basically useless since everything it does is the same as just 1 punch with Caliban + Ignitions doesn't proc Stylish.
Ascension is niche at best, though it does have some synergy with Gifted Conviction but I would faaaar from calling this a top tier aspect and I think both Ascension and Gifted Conviction is a LOT better on Arc in the first place.
As for the Threaded specter it is indeed top tier in PvP but that's also where it ends.
In PvE it does pull a lot of aggro but it doesn't really synergize since it doesn't proc any keywords so in the end what gives it usage in PvE is Combination blow.
Which is another reason why I believe most of the problems stems from Combination blow.
As for the Supers on Prismatic I think Golden Gun and Storm's edge is definitely standing out.
Golden Gun because it does a better job than using it on solar and this indeed a serious issue.
And Storm's edge because Arc in general is not very good in PvP but this more the fault of the subclass not being that good in PvP and this is definitely not the supers fault.
"It's like saying Twilight Arsenal on Prismatic Titan is a problem because it's better on Prismatic than on Void because of Star-eaters. But the real issue is Void Titan simply put just sucks in PvE."
But for the rest of the supers they don't really mess with the other subclasses.
At least I don't see many Arc Hunters run Storm's edge? Especially when Gathering Storm is a thing.
But this is also why I believe changing Golden gun into Blade Barrage would allow Solar to shine more instead of Prismatic being the superior version.
Most of my changes comes from reading what issues people have with Prismatic hunter and what they want nerfed and also personal experiences.
And since nerfing what makes prismatic Hunter broken right now could end up invalidating the subclass I think fixing the broken stuff and buff the weak stuff is needed.
I don't think changing Threaded Specter to Whirling maelstrom would upset anyone since it would remove the biggest painpoint in PvP and at the same time allow for more subclass synergy in PvE.
Granted I haven’t used my Hunter much but from what I remember when building for dungeons and GM’s last couple of seasons.
Supers
Solar - 3 Shot Goldie (most used for Celestial)
Void - Deadfall Tether (most used super ever)
Arc - Storm’s Edge (new… most used in PvP)
Stasis - SnS (best of the Stasis supers)
Strand - Silkstrike (weakest of the 5)
Melees
Solar - Knife Trick (best PvE choice)
Void - Snare (only choice but strong in both)
Arc - Combination Blow (most used)
Stasis - Shuriken (multiple charges/class item)
Strand - Spike (really strong both)
Grenades
Solar - Swarm (buffed… update less track)
Void - Magnetic (only weak option)
Arc - Arcbolt (decent PvP use)
Stasis - Duskfield (Renewal synergy is huge)
Strand - Grapple (broken with class item)
Aspects
Solar - Gunpowder Gamble (weakest - VARIETY)
Void - Stylish (most used - crazy synergy)
Arc - Ascension (new… silly with grapple)
Stasis - Winters Shroud (good synergy)
Strand - Threaded Specter (most utility)
There were a ton of less used options to slot in there but they decide to build the decidedly best Prismatic kit.
Not going to do the comparison to titans because I don’t want to cry again as a Titan main.
Thanks for replying :)
I will start out by saying I'm not quite sure what you wanted to prove with this?
But I'm not saying there isn't any combos and combinations I'm just saying aside from Stylish + Winter as aspects the rest of them feels very mediocre in PvE especially because of what combination blow brings to the table.
A lot of what makes prismatic Hunter so strong is because of the things you get from using combination blow and it legit feels like dev team designed the subclass around this melee.
I saw you pointed out Gunpower Gamble with Variety which does buff the damage of it, but the problem is still it gets completely outclasses by Caliban to a point where there really isn't any point in using it.
Some players might get a LOL moment from it, but in general I don't think it's a very good aspect.
Also Ignitions doesn't proc Stylish with takes away from the synergy.
Regarding Winter's shroud the reason it is so good right now is again combination blow because of Facet of courage and it procing your stylish since Combination blow doesn't apply keywords.
If we look at the aspect by itself applying slow for dodging isn't really that impressive when you compare it to most aspects this is just a case of the aspect fixing the only thing that would keep Combination blow in check and makes it even more broken.
Also by no means would I consider Knife trick to be even close to how powerful combination blow is. FAAAAR from it.
Knife Trick is a single use with inconsistent damage.
What makes Knife trick good on solar is because of Knock 'em down and Scorch being a VERY big part of the solar kit.
But the melee itself is quite inconsistent since to get good damage from it you need to be very close to your opponent since the knifes spread a lot and the damage comes from landing the crits.
And at this point why not just use combination blow which does more damage, and refunds your class ability for an infinite loop.
As for you being a Titan main you have my condolences because they are in a dire situation and needs to be looked at ASAP.
But I will say this if you don't play Hunter yourself then it explains why your opinions are what they are.
The grass is always greener on the other side.
While I do believe Prismatic Hunter is currently the strongest for the wrong reasons.
I believe in terms of build crafting when it comes to Prismatic nothing comes even close to what the Warlock can do.
