If Bungie does nothing else to the current drop rate, what they SHOULD do, at the very least, is make one guaranteed essence drop from the red border chest, just like how we get a guaranteed red border every week from it.
If nothing else, that way we know that even if someone gets the absolute worst RNG and doesn't get a random essence drop at all, they can still get the gun in 20 weeks for sure.
I think running a raid for 20 weeks should definitely give you the exotic from that raid, doesn't feel like much to ask for.
Bu in general, I definitely would not mind if Bungie increased the drop rate.

Within that 20 weeks, usually, gun gets nerfed or some b.s. which gets faulted. While good idea, I still think that's a long grind and not fun at all. I'm not suggesting it be available within 24 hours but 20 weeks? I want to play and enjoy new stuff before they release a new dlc or season or if it gets nerfed. I've seen this suggestion in a few posts, maybe guaranteed 3 drops per character per week, and then random drops if you farm afterward

I don't appreciate you reducing my comment to a "20 weeks required". 20 weeks is the worst case scenario. I already have 9 from a combination of 5 runs + few triumphs. If you want it in 2 weeks, simply farm, since it is farm-able. You are never getting 3 per character per week, based on this game's grind level. Its much better to ask for realistic increase in drops. And just to be clear here, since I know you or someone else is going to say "Stop licking Bungie's shoe", I am not. Of course I wouldn't mind if Bungie suddenly gives us 3 essence per character. But we all know that's not happening.

what ever bungie does they need to at the very least increase the drop rate. it is a quest weapon and should not need to be farmed 30+ hours a week to get. my RNG has always been bad and so far this has not been any different so far
