It does nothing of the sort. A cheater will continue no matter what and does not stop them playing or cheating. At most they may make a new account with a different tag. What it does do is cause mental grief against those falsely accused and is in fact a known form of bullying. All to often I see false or misguided claims on these forums... "I am so good that to lose they had to cheat"... no your stats say you are a average at best player. "I read something about cheating so now I see everyone doing it" "I don't like his kit or how he plays so I'll report him". "I have suppppper fast Internet that can not have any issues so if something happens it has to be cheating" So no. There is a very VERY good reason Bungie does not name and shame and includes it in the forum code of conduct.

Nah I fully get what you mean cuz sometimes I play with a guy who literally attributes every other death in pvp to cheating, so I definitely agree to some extent, in a perfect world being able to call out cheaters should be a thing, and it works for siege because of how flagrantly obvious cheating is in that game, it definitely wouldn’t work as well here because of all the false bans, but I do wish cheaters got more acknowledgment in some regard by big bungo

Bungie bans players all the time with the occasional ban wave like last week. We see people kicking off about being banned on the #Help forum page every day with excuses, promises not to do it again, playing nieve or just think that by making a fuss will get them back in. These people bring enough attention to themselves without any help from others. Ps. Bungie has taken legal action against these so called carry/recovery services and cheat creators.
