Vanguard leadership goes to next of kin or love interest so hunter vanguard leader would be the chick with the ships and sparrows

Amanda isn't a guardian so she can't be the Vanguard. Cayde dosen't have any living family that we know of and no other love interests. Even if you moved on to friends, pretty sure all his other guardian friends outside the Vanguard have been killed. With these conditions, I believe the choice would have to be random, and with a weak consensus, it's going to be a while before the role is filled

You’re forgetting Shiro. Shiro, Cayde, and Andal were all in a Fireteam together for years before Andal got ripped into Vangurd Duty, followed by Cayde. Shiro would logically be the best choice for Hunter Vangurd... which is exactly why he is avoiding the City and the Tower as much as he possibly can.
