He’s pretty much been working for Microsoft the entire time on more of the publishing side. He stepped in to help DontNod work on Tell Me Why.
All it is is someone from one portion of Microsoft helping out another portion of Microsoft.
He just helped with a game that released the last couple days ("Tell Me Why", I think was the title). Won an award as gamescom or something. After leaving Bungie after Activision rejected his initial ideas for density (remember how they restarted D1's story so late into production? Yeh, Activision didn't like the story Staten and his team made), he eventually made his way back to Microsoft studios. Wrote a couple Halo books, did a few games like Re-Core, and now he's back on Halo Infinite. He probably won't have a huge impact on the vanilla story this late into development, but the game is supposed to last a decade from what I've heard, so he probably will have a huge impact on story expansions/DLC's, if I had to guessm
I think he had some general role in Microsoft studios where he'd float between the various studios, and oversea the development of various projects.
The last time I saw his name attached to something was Re-Core.
