Every generation has a different opinion about what the greatest music is. My parents thought the late sixties early seventies was the greatest period in music. My grandma thought that the peak of music was Beethoven and Bach. A lot of younger kids think music from the last 20 years was the peak (they are objectively wrong). But the entire 20th century has seen a real revolution in music. From the invention of Jazz and Blues in the first half of the century to the invention of Rock and Roll in the 50’s and onwards. Every era has great music.
As someone who grew up in the eighties I can tell you there was a LOT of shit music (see video above). People look back on the eighties with their nostalgia goggles on. Kids just hear all the good stuff and never hear the bad stuff that doesn’t get played anymore.
What are you talking about? That song was number 1 in 7-8 countries! Falco(rip) was highly underrated and underappreciated by folk today, and for you to use that song to be exemplify bad music shows how little you know about that era my friend.
Growing up in a time period doesn't mean jack. Look at today's youth, can't even answer basic questions about their damn country.

Being number one doesn’t mean it’s a good song. The Macarena was also number in over a dozen countries (please don’t tell me you like that song). All that proves is people have shit taste in music.
As for Falco - it was a Eurotrash throwaway gimmick hit. If you liked it good for you - everyone has different taste in music. But the fact that you admit it’s “underrated and under-appreciated” suggests I’m not alone in my belief it’s a bad song. In fact I would think people that un-ironically like it are in the minority.
