Yes but no. Your job isn't to heal but to provide temporary damage and health regen at specific times e.g. boss damage.

If they are going to go for a healer they should do it right and me waiting around not using my super while everyone else does is not fun. That's boring and Bungie apparently agreed enough to remove it.
