I def have no idea how we are supposed to get any amount of mod components worth using in this game. I think the only reason there hasn't been more outcry about this was people were sitting on a stockpile of them early on, but now people are running out. I play a LOT and have gotten maybe ten since Forsaken dropped?

Remember you can cash in your legendary shards for planetary materials with Spider, then use those to get Y1 gear from planetary vendors. Some of those will drop with mods or masterwork. You can then disassemble those for the parts, and get a couple of your shards back, plus the mods/MC's you got. It's a good way to use up those shard you probably have way too many off right now. Plus you get to up your reputation with the planetary vendors, you they'll think you're special. :)

由Calevis24编辑: 10/2/2018 4:36:28 PMThat's not a bad idea, but is that a viable use for mods and cores really? Seems like you would need a lot of mats to level up even a few times to get a few pieces of gear, and if they don't drop mods it's a waste pretty much. I like the idea though and might do a little run of it to see what kind of return in getting on shards. Mostly I've been saving them and buying one, maybe two cores a day from spider. I'm just not seeing hardly any mod components, but you're saying the vendor stuff has it a decent amount of them? Thanks!
is that a viable use for mods and cores really?
Hah, is it viable? It works, but it's not great. But it's pretty much the only way to get those parts right now, even though the process is a bit slow and annoying. Basically I sharded all my year 1 gear to start with. That gives you quite a lot of mods and MCs. It also gives you a ton of shards. I had around 1000 shards. 1 shard buys you 5 materials, and I think you need 30 materials to gain a level. So 6 shards per level (I may be a bit wrong about the number of materials, it could be 40) Each level gives you 1 or maybe 2 legandary items. If they're modded or masterworked, you get those mats. Otherwise you get 3 shards back. So if your luck is bad, you'll end up losing about 3 shards per go. If it's good, you end up with a mod or an MC and your 3 shards back. I think that's a reasonable cost. It's just really slow work. On the plus side, you gain a lot of levels with the vendor, which may or may not be useful to you in future expansions. (Probably not) :P If you're looking to farm for MC's though, the best way would be to get a group and do the old raids. They're low level so they'll be easier on you now, and the raid tends to drop a lot of masterworked items.

Yep, all good thoughts! I think the lower vendor levels (EDZ, Nessus, IO) are 55 mats for a level, but still sounds like a decent exchange on the shards. I've burned a lot since launch, but I might burn a hundred or so on this and see where it gets me. Thanks!
I think the lower vendor levels (EDZ, Nessus, IO) are 55 mats for a level
Yeah, you're right. I double checked it last night because the exchange rate actually sounded pretty good. Turns out I need to turn in 6 times, not 3. So 55 shards sounds right. Not quite as good as I thought, but I think it's still ok. At least until they patch it so we can get them more frequently from drops.
