The salty emote was inspired by a video of “Salt Bae”, in which a Turkish chef sprinkled salt in a very stylish manner. The alliterative dance is a reference to the PPAP music video (the dances are very similar), in which an odd Japanese man dances and sings about fruits and pens... that was a meme too.
