My hope for this franchise is that during the last missions I get pissed with killing for the light and tired of killing the dark and turn against them both. Taking out both the traveller and the darkness and unifying them both thus ending all the slaughter done in there name.
I sit a magnificent and powerful being overlooking the universe and it's perfect balance. Or is it???

This reminds me of the turning point of an old, classic sci fi series called Babylon 5. In it, we were originally led to believe that the Order aligned Vorlons (The Light?) were the good guys and the Chaos aligned Shadows (The Darkness?) were the bad guys. The protagonists eventually realized all of this was A BIG LIE. The Vorlons and the Shadows had been betting all along whose approach was best to shepherd the galaxy. Along the way, BOTH lost their way and BOTH became villains. Because of this, the protagonists kicked them both from the galaxy. Epically and forcefully. I have suspected that Joseph Staten had this moment from this sci fi series in mind when he wrote Destiny´s original plot. In Destiny 1 sparse plot, I saw the potential for this kind of plot twist. Unfortunately, Destiny 2 writing team are completely different people. I doubt they want to steer the story towards these kinds of themes.

To see the bigger picture and be able to choose who you, the player, fights for would be epic. You could find yourselves coming across people you know fighting for the otherside. Epic Alas this would be too much for bungie and a starwars type choice of fighting for a particular side and having a different outcome will never be within their grasp
