You might want to re-read what I said.
Your melee abilities are abilities you use with your hands. Swords are weapons, so your abilities do not come into play.
I never said said swords are not a melee weapon, they are a melee weapon. Key word here, weapon. Your melee abilities are used with your hands. Without a weapon.
Your saying that swords are not the guardian’s fist, so sword kills don’t activate any of the melee skills or perks from your skill tree. That’s obvious, I understand what your saying, but I don’t think you get my point.
My point is that the swords are not balanced with the rest of the power weapons in the game. The fact that you can use any other power weapon except for a sword, and still have access to your melee abilities and perks is unbalanced. This makes swords one of the worst, if not the worst choice to use as your power weapon.
When using the sword, it replaces your melee ability, but you do not have access to any of your active or passive melee skills and perks. If swords kills are not going to be treated as melee kills and proc the perks in your skill tree, then you should be able to use your regular melee ability while using them.
For instance, if you are a top tree void titan, and you switch to your sword, you have just effectively stopped using the majority of your skill tree. If I use a shotgun which is effective at the melee range and even further, I have full access to my melee ability, as well as the rest of the skill tree. That’s not balanced. Either count the sword kills as melee kills since they replace your melee, or map the sword attacks to a different button, so you can use your melee while using the sword.
