?!?!?!?! Do you pay attention to mission dialogue??? Ghost actually says "This is the most powerful thing I've ever seen" which, even if he's wrong, still proves my point that everything about this was terribly carried out.
Yes. Ghost does not say Xol was more powerful than Oryx. I have played those missions 6 times each. Also Xol may not be dead. Worms have a throne world similar to the Hive's Ascendant Realm. But I am pretty sure he was dead. He was the runt.
We killed Oryx in the raid, we just sent him back to his Ascendant Realm in the story mission. And it was clear that he wasn't dead and there was a heck of a lot more lead up to the fight with Oryx.
We killed his form in our realm. Xol was the weakest of all the worm gods and Oryx was stronger than the greatest of them. Let it go, man. Savanthun is on deck. Quit worrying about Xol and his asthmatic buddy Nokris.
Nah, he retreated to his Ascendant Realm. A worm god is a worm god. Doesn't matter if it's the weakest. He seemed pretty powerful when he made his intro. Literally froze us in place with sheer force of will. Doesn't seem very consistent with how we killed him. And again, no lead in. This powerful being was mentioned once or twice maybe a couple missions before you kill him. Could it be crappy writing and level design?
Aside from all that, how can you honestly experience Xol's intro of getting frozen in place and being told you'll drown in the Deep and then be completely fine with how it panned out? Like as a fan of storytelling or gameplay or pretty much anything, you're fine with experiencing that and then boom it's done?
Yeah I know I need to, I just see all the potential it has, and keep expecting something better. I know there won't be anything better, but I do it anyway. Just setting myself up for failure.

Yep. I totally get it.
Yeah. Can you imagine finding Saint-14's helmet and instead of just a boring item notification, you get a cutscene of you stumbling upon a battered helmet? Maybe a flash of his final moments? Add a log in your lore codex for extra sweetness. *Sigh* so much potential.
