I bought monster Hunter in the hopes that it could fill the void that Destiny 2 left me with but I just can't get into it.

Fallout 4 has me at almost 300 hours now and still have not finished the main story line. The number of side quests is amazing. Best $20 I have spent on a game for content. I'll admit some is repetitive, but wow, the effort they put into the game makes me re-evaluate just how badly we have been treated by Bungie. Same with the main story line in GTA 5, and the fact that RockStar is still putting out content for nothing.

Try the hammer if you haven't yet. The controls are SIGNIFICANTLY less complex than other weapons. I went from 1-5 hours a week when I was messing with all the other weapon types to 2 hours a day once I tried out the hammer. Also I say unless playing with friends, solo play is much more enjoyable and less frustrating. There are also MANY mechanics that are not explained in the game (like grappling around, flying around maps, radial menu customization, etc) and if you don't get into them it can be much more annoying to play. I'm at 100+ hours in the game right now and am only about halfway through the game, there is A LOT left to discover at 30 hours in.

Tell me about it...I am like 50 hours into it and the real grind ia about to start. Trying to farm Tobiachi for my bow and the parts are not dropping. I beed this bow to take on dragons as it has huge dragon element. Well, more hunting ahead....heeheh and some Destiny inbetween

Make sure you are activating the right investigations (gold and silver rewards). It took me forever to really grasp this system, but I got the missing pieces I needed much faster once I did those instead of expeditions or optional missions to farm parts.

Oh I thought he meant you can choose to be good or bad. I've probably played for 30 hours in total, I kind of get the way the game works. As I said before, i just can't get into it. I sunk a couple of thousand hours into Destiny but I don't think I could do that with MHW.
-
Wrong, first impression is not a true picture. I thought so too. The game is hard and a grind fest but it rewards you. I still havw a ton ahead of me but this game will fill my Destiny off time. No longer bored. Give it another shot. We all love Destiny but MHW is awesome too

It may not be the true picture, according to you, but it's always been my mantra that first impressions are the most important. So, Nah, I'm good. Destiny is my off game. I'll stay here. My primary is ffxiv, been a sub there since the beginning. I have Burnout Paradise Remastered for fun right now also. And God of War is out in roughly 3 weeks. I'm a grind nutcase, but there are few games with grinds like ffxiv. MHW ain't even close. I'll trust my intuition over your fanboi state any day. But, to each his own though, have fun.

There is NO doubt there is some truth to that. I'm the same, can remember plenty of games I didn't start out well with. Dying Light games took a second for me, lol, Even now, going back to them takes a sec to adapt. With MHW, only having 4 hours for beta, if I'm remembering things right, didn't encourage me to settle into it. So, I just never did.

That's like saying Destiny only lasts as long as the campaign missions. It's misleading and deceptive. I haven't played a story mission in MHW in weeks, just investigations and optional missions with friends every day to tune up the armor sets/weapons. This game has a fantastic game OUTSIDE the game, that's what's crucial and missing from D2.

Its pretty easy potion wise...let me explain... Eat food before you go on an expedition. Pay attention to "fresh" ingredients so you get max health and stamina buffs. Non fresh ingredients still buff the same amount of defense offense or elemental resistance. SO freshness only matters for health and stamina and an increased chance at the food specific traits. The types of potions are as follows... Meganutrients increase your overall healthbar size. Potions...megapotions.. restore health. theres defense and offense buffs you dont really need to worry about ever but are always a good option particularly in the late endgame. Then there are energy buffs which make it so your energy doesnt drain as fast. Dash Potion for example Hi potion makes it so your healthbar size is maxed and restores all health. ancient potion makes it so your health and energy bar size are both maxed. Rations restore your energy bar size which diminishes over time. Not much else in the potion world besides antidotes for poison and nullberry for pretty much every other status effect. It seems complicated at first but after a little while its not so bad.
