A little over 15 minutes but it’s a great watch.
For a topic that, in practice, is very heavy in rigorous mathematical formalisms, topology is presented here as a very natural sort of idea. 3Blue1Brown is a fantastic YouTuber as is, and I think this video really showcases his ability to get the viewer to the core idea without being too weighed down by the mathematical formalisms it takes to get there. He makes a 100% purely mathematical idea interesting to the layman.
He also has series on Linear Algebra and Calculus that are both excellent for anyone who’s currently taking those courses, or has taken them. Like I described earlier, his main focus is to drive home the core idea of what’s going on, it’s much less about the mathematical formalities and algebra, and much more about what is actually going on.
If I were Cecil Balmond, that would seem like a neat way to design buildings. Also, Markus Persson supports him on Patreon? Damn.
Do you know of any good books on contemporary architecture? I always found architecture fascinating, but really my knowledge of it only extends to the point of the more avant-garde works and certain eras in history that I’ve learned about from studying art in my free time. It’s like, the most modern architect I can actually name and recognize their work and influence is Zaha Hadid.

由f3编辑: 1/31/2018 6:10:13 AMGood books on contemporary architecture? I have no idea. I only know about Balmond because he did a lecture at my school. You can look into kinetic architecture maybe. It’s not a terribly new concept, though it’s been developed a lot recently. The Fountainhead is probably my favorite book though, so, I guess that’s a recommendation. It’s not exactly new and it’s fiction, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’d already read it, but it’s the only thing that ever comes to mind when I think of any type of literature on the subject.
