What I don't get is why didn't this happen?
ZAVALA: "Don't go. I've lost too many lightless Guardians on Titan already. "
YOU: "..."
GHOST: "Commander, we have our light back."
ZAVALA: "WHAT?! How?"
GHOST: "There's this shard in the European Dead Zone."
No response from Zavala.
GHOST: "Commander? Commander, are you there?"
SLOAN: "Uh, he just transmatted to his ship. I think he's headed to Earth to get his own light back."

While no one talked about it, is an issue. But only we and one other guardian got the vision of the shard. So only we could be given the light, dear. And the shard only had enough light for one guardian as seen in the last subclass mission

A fact that gets questionable when Shaxx reopens the Crucible... if Guardians are no longer immortal, then it may be a bad idea for them to shoot at each other. And even if you rationalize that the Crucible is a training sim, Zavala restores the strike playlist, which requires three light-empowered Guardians.

That's like saying exercise isn't healthy because you aren't actually doing something with the strength. It's preparation and practice. Besides, Guardians can come back from the dead anyway. We don't just shoot our friends because it's fun.

We don't have access to the Prison of Elders, though. I have a headcanon that the Cabal severely damaged it on entering the Solar System, and that's why we're not getting it back in D2. [spoiler]Though we both know why it's really not coming back.[/spoiler]

Yes indeed. That's why I didn't mention the raid, it was canonically post-ending. But Shaxx had the Queer-cible up and running when we were still on the Farm. And I'm pretty sure Zavala reactivated the strike playlist before we killed Gary.

I thought that was pretty common knowledge.
