It’s really not that the timer makes it hard.
It’s that the timer feels lazy and there are plenty of other ways they can make this more difficult than to try your absolute hardest to run by everything in an effort to beat the clock.
If the only way they can make something hard is to add a timer, they aren’t good at their jobs.
And it wouldn’t even be that bad if the timer was an occasional modifier every few nightfall’s but every single week is excessive and screams lazy.

Hell, if they're going to do the timer thing, just make it a fixed timer. You get X minutes, period, end of discussion. If you can't do it in that much time, then you can't do it. Don't saddle me with busywork side tasks like jumping through rings or shooting glowy crap to extend my time, just say "You have X minutes, get -blam!-ing moving."

Adding thoughtful, team focused objectives. Getting a poison buff you have to keep passing around to keep from dying. Having to avoid enemies like the gorgon maze in D1 or at least being able to melt them before the wipe the team. Going back to orbit if your team wipes. Burn modifiers with rotating shields to give use to weapons like hard light. Pretty much every modifier they had in D1 because they were fun to play with. Having a timer that counts up and gives tiered rewards. And just generally making the enemies tougher without the timer

If I wanted to play D1 nightfalls, I would go and play D1 again. At least you gave some examples of how it would improve your experience, unlike others who are here just to complain.

Yes and no. This is its own game yes, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing over mechanics that worked and provides a challange. They should have added timers as a modifier not a set deal and it should be on top of the mechanics we saw in d1

They brought rainbow 🌈 burn over from D1, slightly modified but it's there. They have brought over the no health regen modifier from D1, again modified but it is there. I can agree that a tiered rewards system might be more useful for those who like to run within the timer and those who just want to beat it. That may be the way they go.

Adding real mechanics like having to bring down the shield of a mini boss that a new one appears every section (and it's lore related too) by some sort of mechanic like having to detached a ground to air middle launcher by killing a mechanic that drops a laser cutter that cuts off the launcher. Then all 3 guardian have to carry the launcher (like your legs are tied together) to the right position and fire it at the mini boss which drops his shields. Repeat until dead.
