I've never been addicted to something I didn't like. For example, shoving glass in your eyes or eating Chipotle. I usually avoid those things because they're not pleasant. If you think D1 wasted your time then all games are a waste of time. But if you like to play, play something you like. I don't understand all these people who need therapy for this game or justification from strangers but good luck whatever your decision is.
Many addictions can actually start out unpleasant. The way the brain deals with stress, trauma, pain, and other issues in many cases includes the release of dopamine, cannabinoid receptor chemicals, and opioid (Mu receptors specifically) chemicals.
Naturally this can lead to actually liking a given activity as the reward activity of the brain craves and becomes addicted to those transmitters. Hot peppers is a prime example.
