The difference is that Yor went out of his way to preserve the memory of Rezyl as a good and noble man. If Luke didn't find out from Vader, he likely never would've done (before killing him) from Yoda or Ben's ghost. I think it's also better that he heard it from Vader first, for whatever reason.
